The composer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Polscher, born in Dortmund/Germany in 1961 and now Munich and Cologne based, became proficient in piano and flute as a child, experimented with synthesizers and cassette recorders as a teenager and studied the bassoon. In 1980 Polscher switched to the saxophone, toured with jazz and rock bands throughout Europe, led his own groups and ensembles and founded his own record company in 1990. He creates music for TV shows and contributed as a studio artist in numerous record and broadcasts productions. His works have been published on phonograms since 1987, and from 1994 most of his music are realized in his own recording studio. Polscher studied with Joe Mubare and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Polscher´s catalogue encompasses orchestral and choral work, music for theatre and chamber music as well as purely electronic pieces and sound installations. Many pieces are designed as scenic music with electroacoustic performance practice. Since 1990, Polscher has composed and produced over 100 theatre and ballet scores. Most of these commissioned pieces are also available in concertante versions, and are listed in the repertoires of international ensembles. He also works as a director for theatres since 2015. Polscher complements his concert and studio work by giving lectures and workshops as well as writing essays on music and related interests.

Mark Polscher currently performs and records with various ensembles and groups as a synthesizer player, soprano saxophonist and flutist. His new album Second Landing Jump will be released in October, and in November he will go on tour and in the studio with his new quartet Polscher 4.
