Born 1961 in Dortmund, Germany, composer and performer Mark Polscher became proficient in piano, flute and bassoon, toured as a saxophonist with jazz and rock bands across Europe, led his own bands and ensembles and taught in music schools. He started his own record company, created music for 500 episodes of a daily TV show and contributed as a studio artist to numerous record and broadcasts productions. Since 1987 he has released his own recordings. Polscher studied with Joe Mubare and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Polscher´s catalogue encompasses orchestral and choral work, music for theatre and chamber music as well as purely electronic pieces and sound installations. Many pieces are designed as scenic music with electroacoustic performance practice. Since 1990, Polscher has composed and produced over 90 theatre, ballet and film scores. Most of these commissioned pieces are also available in concertante versions, and are listed in the repertoires of international ensembles. He complements his concert and studio work by giving lectures and workshops as well as writing essays on music and related interests.

Since 2015, Polscher works also as a director for theatre and has been playing various ensembles as a guitarist and synthesizer player. He is currently working on the score of his new ballet, commissioned by Staatsoper Hannover. In the spring of 2018 Polscher´s new album with pieces for electroacoustic ensemble will be released.
